Day 26
Monday, June 16, 2008
8:15 AM CDT
Location: Heritage Harbor, Ottawa, IL.
Weather: 68* heading for mid 70’s with no chance of rain
It’s been a week since my last update so I thought I’d do a little catch up.
Our last week has been fairly quite with our time spent working on boat projects and enjoying our time in Ottawa. It is interesting to me how fast the time goes during the week...there is always something to do and I am not bored at all (yet!) But I will say I am really looking forward to heading down river and all the navigation and planning that takes.
The weather has been very “ify” almost every day the past week or so (actually since we got to Ottawa). Every day there is a chance of storms...and many times very severe storms. The good news is that in most cases these storms have gone north or south of us. Yesterday we woke (6:30 am) in the morning to very strong winds and heavy rain that lasted about 30 minutes or so. NOAA weather said there were reported winds of 60 mph and pea sized hail in the storms, but we did not see anything that extreme. The weather for the next few days is forecasted to be a little cooler (75 to 80) and very slight chance of rain.
Today we are planning the arrival of our 11 year old grandson, Zac. He will stay with us for a couple of days and he and I plan to spend a fair amount of time fishing. Not sure if we will do any “catching”...but we’ll give it a try.
Right now I’m heading out to wipe down HQ and our Whaler and make sure everything looks good...important stuff when you live on a boat. Probably the most “important” thing I’ll do today. Been doing this for years now...and somehow I never get tired of the process. If I’m on the water...all is good.
Summer officially begins on Friday!

Great pictures! Love the "no routine" routine....I'm just still trying to picture you, Bob, relaxing for days on end! Love it. I was worried about you and the weather; glad to see you are relatively unscathed....looks like now isn't the time to head down the Mississippi! Have fun fishing--Deb, you look great holding down the fort!
the last comment was from Beth--still trying to figure out how I posted before!
